Day4, Third Park

Magic Kingdom-Disneyland writ small
We went to Magic Kingdom today. The idea was that it was really disney land and we all knew disney land really well. everyone was excited to visit was we considered "old favorites" and spoke of Space Mountain, Star Tours and Matterhorn. We had discovered that Star Tours was at MGM but the rest would be there waiting for our eager little bodies to arrive. What we hadn't counted on was how far away everything is -we go from the shuttle to the monorail to a ferry in order to reach the entrance. It was a long trip but finally we arrived. since we had decided to sleep in a bit and catch the 1030 shuttle (we were all wiped out from the past 2 days) And entering the park was truly like old home week for us. It was the Main Street we all knew and the layout was familiar. It felt like putting on comfy clothes after being dressed up.
We have learned that the first thing to do is get reservations for lunch, we scurried over to make sure we had a place to eat in a few hours. then grab a fast past to Space Mountain and hit some smaller rides. We tried the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor first. At first, meesh and i thought it would be a movie of the characters from the movie making jokes but actually it interacts with the audience and it was pretty funny. We tried the Stitch ride next-that is a definite pass. None of us really liked it and I think it might be intended more for smaller children more interested in bodily humor.
Then it was time for Space Mountain, the most anticipated event of the day. We had the fast pass (whoever thought of that gem should be given a BIG raise!) and quickly found ourselves right at the front, waiting to board our shuttle. Meg was busy warding off a panic attack. she really wanted to do the ride but has very definite likes and dislikes when it comes to roller coasters and is a bit iffy when it comes to unknown rides. But she was a trooper and refused all offers to leave. Gwyn was nearly coming out of her skin in excitement. she remembered this ride from Disney Land trips past and was counting steps till it was our turn. That was when we experienced something i had never heard of on a disney land ride--the lights came on--in Space Mountain. We saw the track and the black ceiling. gone were the stars, the comets and the mystery. As Gwyn so aptly and cynically put it "great, there goes the magic." There was some technical difficulty on the track and they had to shut down for awhile. we were given fast passes for our return trip and profuse apologies and then escorted from the building. We were able to return less than an hour later but it was very strange to have this magical place have such a mundane problem.
On the whole, it was a good day. there is no Matterhorn and Toontown (my favorite spot) isn't anything like the california one but on the whole, we really enjoyed ourselves (sore feet and all). I think we overwhelmingly want to revisit MGM before Magic Kingdom on our extra day but it was a day well spent.
Our favorites for the park--
Meg: favorite ride was Monsters Inc. Favorite event was the bakery (it was really yummy)
Gwyn: favorite ride was Monsters Inc. Favorite event was the Mickey Parade.
Marfs: favorite ride was Monsters Inc. Favorite event was the Mickey parade. They had a float of all the disney villains and i cheered and one of the pirates flirted with me. Interestingly enough, Meesh didn't like the parade all that much. Hmmmm.
Meesh: favorite ride was Monsters Inc. His favorite event was Liberty Tree--the restaurant where we ate lunch. it had great food and the desserts were too good to describe.
and it is late and everyone has now gone to bed so i can't even read them what i have written so they can praise me. so i am off to bed now. Epcot center tomorrow. i hear the Canadian food is the best. we will see.

OH so Marf did go on the trip. The first day there was no mention of you. Mike get caught up in talking about himself.

We have all voted at our house. You need to stay on your trip. We all look forward to our nightly reading of your trip. I have talked to everyone about your stories. The spider, the restaurant the parade. With all the tv shows being reruns this is the best part of our night.

Hope you all can keep up with your busy days.

love you all,
